This is paradise and I should know
as I have seen many of them
from all around the globe.
This paradise was one I discovered early on
as this was my first Hiding Place.
As a child I would run away from home
and end up here.
Actually this paradise
is only a few blocks from my childhood home
so I did not need a passport
as I do these days when I run away.
No jet*lag then.
No American Express Reward Points.
As I am as old as the hills,
the place has changed a bit over the years.
And so have I.
"Why did you run away
from home, somepinkflowers?"
you may ask.
I learned rather early on
that I loved to roam about,
to walk and walk and walk and walk,
to see the world from a different point of view.
As a child when I ran away
my father would be sent in car
to look for me.
I was always right here
so every one seemed copacetic with the process.
"Just be careful not to fall in!" I would be warned ...
From the end of this dock
{{ or rather from this dock's grandfather }}
my daddy helped me catch my first fish
when I was about 4 or 5.
On the back of the B&W snapshot,
which recorded the moment,
was written my feelings at the time:
"Get it off, Daddy! Get it off ! "
Much, much later I would bring my daddy
and his shadow*friend, Alzheimer's, right here
to this very spot.
"Just be careful not to fall in!" I would warn ...
My mother likes to look at fluffy white clouds these days.
I bring her in my jeep
from her Assisted Living Home
down here to the river.
Sometimes we stop at the Dairy Queen for ice-cream
with extra chocolate & pecans.
Always we talk about my daddy
who watches us from the fluffy white clouds.
"Just be careful not to fall in!" I can hear him say.
We are always very, very careful.

Postcards from Paradise
with dear recuerda mi corazon !!

I agree that although you have traveled to some very beautiful paradises...this one, in your backyard...with you mother and your father's memories is the best.
Sometimes it takes visiting far off paradises to allow us to see the beauty in the one in our backyard

you have given me so many layers of blessings. i can't even begin.
let's start with somepinkflowers
which
i
now
see
everywhere,
and in all seasons and am greatly lifted each time i do.
then let's look straight up at the holy fillament of clouds,
and find our fathers
always
watching out for us. maybe even comparing fish and daughter stories.
and all the sweet memories and family in between.
yes,
that's the way it is with blessings,
there is no end to the generosity and fragrance of love!!!!

Wonderful, wonderful, and I, too, always knew that you lived in paradise!
Did you hide near the spot where Ponce de Leon landet?
Happy New Year,
Merisi
